We tried moving all toiletry out of his room, and in the bathroom. We tried going potty every 2 hours(about 5 min. each time)during the day. We always let him flush(his favorite part). If he messed his pull-up/underwear, we dumped it in the potty, telling him that's where it goes. At the end of the day, we'd open up his "Potty Calendar"(a day planner from the dollar store)and if he had stayed clean all day, he got a sticker, if not, a sad face. Once he'd been clean for 10 days he got a reward. Eventually, he started telling us when he had to go. But every kid is different, don't get discouraged! Good luck!

I remember this with my son when he was about the same age (he's now 11). It was a nightmare! He would get so backed up and then almost be in tears if he had to go #2...it was horrible. I would agree that you definitely don't want to make a big deal of it...I learned that sometimes you just have to wait for them to be ready to do something...must be a boy thing, huh? :) I now have an 11mo old as well, so I can't say I'm really looking forward to that again! :)

I'm in the same boat. My 2 year old will go in the other room when he has to poop so I try and catch it and put him on the potty. I give him a sucker or something that takes a longer time to eat and tell him he has to stay on the potty to have it, that keeps him there for long enough to be done. But really I just don't make a big deal out of it, it's a very common problem when potty training. He won't poop his pats forever! Just lots of praise and reminding. Sometimes bringing something new into the whole potty training thing is fun and will get him excited about the potty again. The Baby Signs new Potty Training Kit is what we are trying next. I'm an instructor for the program so I know how great the program is and I'm really excited about the new potty training part of it! My 2 year old has grown out of his signs, but he loves trains and the video is a lot of fun! I'm going to start him and my 14 month old on the Potty Train Program after our big Potty Party in two weeks!
