My child loves this place. We rented both pools exclusively for his 10th birthday party. Everyone had a great time! The 120' water slide was a big hit. The kids also used the rope swing, poolside basketball hoop, and could swim laps. There is a wonderful water activity center for younger children as well. There is a party room available and they provided two people to help us with the party as well as a helium balloon for every guest. The party was a great success.

Southwest Community Center is a great spot for the whole family. When we lived close by, I took my young children to preschool swim times, open play, swimming lessons and I loved working out in the gym or taking an workout class. I was bummed when we moved south of Portland, but we still make an effort to pop by for swimming when we're in the area.
What a great space! It is nice to be next to Gabriel Park so you can utilize the outdoors whether it's playing tennis, frolicking on the playground, running the bases, or exploring the many trails.

My kids always love to go here as they have a very shallow play area with water gadgets spitting water, etc... However the place is so chlorinated and I am not sure they have the greatest ventilation that you come out of there feeling like you have just been in a washing machine with tons of bleach. You also have to pick not so peak times to swim as it can get really crowded, which means a sea of kids which gets into tears when water is splashing everywhere.

My review is mixed. I give 5 stars for the AMAZING pool. It is fabulous, but can be very crowded and has an annoying schedule that you have to be careful to check. I got there once, got in the pool and then was told that I had to get out because it was only open for those taking lessons. Apparently my trying to teach my own child to swim didn't count. Also, I was in the women's locker room once and a man came in and had a good (perverted) look around and the staff was not very responsive.
BUT, I CANNOT STAND the woman who gives the tiny kids classes. They have the same woman do almost all of the classes. She's mean and shouldn't work with children. I'll never take one of those again. The "indoor park" is too crowded and overwhelming for tiny kids and older kids shouldn't be there as they are physically intimidating to the younger kids who make up 80% of the kids there. Every time I took my little one (when she was 1 or 2 years old) there, there would be some out-of-control 4 or 5 year old (who should have been in preschool) there taking things away from her and not being watched by his/her parents.
We had a birthday party there for my daughter's third birthday and it was great. We had the glass-walled room next to the pool for lunch and cake and then swam. Everyone had a great time.
