    Visit the de Young for art and happy hour on Friday evenings! People of all ages can enjoy special programs and entertainment as the entire museum stays open until 8:45pm. The cafe and a no-host cocktail bar are open for dinner and drinks. There are hands-on art-making activities available for children and adults.     Big Kids/Little Kids Doing and Viewing Art at the de Young Museum

    Tours of permanent collections and current exhibitions are followed by studio workshops taught by professional artist-teachers. Children 4 to 6 attend Big Kids/Little Kids, and children 7 through 12 attend Doing and Viewing Art. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Programs are held most Saturdays—please check the online calendar to confirm.

    Art After School at the de Young Museum

    Art after School offers an in-depth exploration of world cultures through the museum's extensive collections of art from Africa, Mesoamerica, Oceania, and North America. Through careful observation and engaging art activities, these classes explore the connections between the visual arts, language arts, and social studies. Children are expected to attend both sessions. Art After School classes take place on most Wednesdays, but each week features a different grade. Please check the deYoung calendar for a complete schedule.
