The World Forestry Center Discovery Museum is hands-on, interactive and great for the whole family. We teach about forests and trees of the world in a fun and exciting atmosphere. We host traveling exhibits as well as hold special events like ChocolateFest and Day of the African Child.

We were looking for something fun to do on a sunday afternoon that wasn't too rigorous and tons of people to contend with. The forestry center is good for older kids who enjoy science and nature. You can tell they have tried to do hands on activities, but still need some improvement. The biggest highlight was sitting in an old game drive car and pretending to drive through Kruger national park in South Africa. I was excited to see the "No End to Bananas" exhibit they currently have but it is just a few poster panels of reading in a room, but nothing my kids were really interested in looking at.
I noticed on the way out that they have once a month events where kids do crafts, nature walks, and more tree identification projects. The next time we come I want to make sure we take advantage of that, not just wandering through the center.

We went with our 2 year old and he had a good time. A few interactive things that he could do, new things to look at and he loved the train outside. More for older kids, but we would go back once a year with him.

We brought our cub scout den here to earn the Forestry activity badge. The boys had a blast because there is a good variety of interactive displays - the river rafting boat was fun one where the camera takes a picture of them while "rafting" down the rapids. There is a lot of good information that is provided in a fun way to learn. Probably geared toward older children. This place is well worth the visit.

We would always see this place when we went to the childrens museum. So finally one day we decided to go there as well. This is a great place for the kids who can read and don't get bored easily. For the younger kids 4 and under this is really not a good place to take them unless you are just dropping in for a short time. I think I learned a lot about forest, animals, etc... that I never knew so it was a great learning experience for me as the parent
