Got Yoga?
Stumptown Yoga* wants you to have it.
A labor of love and a work in progress, Stumptown Yoga is dedicated to bringing the myriad benefits of yoga to all. The studio is a locally-owned, centrally-located in southeast Portland, near the intersection of 39th & Powell Avenues.
Stumptown Yoga wants to be your neighborhood yoga joint, offering affordable, accessible, and intimate classes with lots of individual attention from our instructors. We are not a yoga mill and believe that limited class size and indiviualized, hands-on attention is the best route to learning yoga and getting all the benefits of a consistent yoga practice. Small classes allow us to focus on everyone's posture and alignment, ensuring you maximize your results and reduce your chance of injury.
Try an intro class if you're curious; develop a consistent & continuing practice in a level 1-2 class; bring your kid or teen in for a class that is designed just for them; or get a sweaty overall workout in one of our level 2-3 classes. Check out our current schedule, and keep coming back for new classes and workshops in the future.
Our office and retail section were just completed, and we plan to also have a massage therapist on staff.
Yoga made simple. Yoga made fun. Yoga made affordable.

My children and I love the kids and yoga class led by Shannon on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30am. I have always found Stumptown Yoga to be the friendliest yoga studio in Portland.

Dads with toddlers not made to feel welcome at Kids and Parents Yoga.
My 3 year old son and I packed up our yoga gear, got in the car to travel 5 miles across town to attend Shannon's Kids and Parents Yoga class. We were given a prickly greeting at the door with a curt reminder to wipe our feet before entering. We were then instructed to sign in at the table. While signing in I was instructed to include a first and last name on the legal disclaimer document which I had already correctly completed. Lastly, as we attempted to pay with a credit union credit debit card, we were told that only cash or checks are accepted. We left.
As any parent knows, an outing with a toddler is not a convenient one. We'd made quite a bit of effort to attend this class only to be spoken to in a brusk and condescending manner. No effort on the part of Shannon was made to accommodate that we did not have her preferred method of payments (cash or check only) such as: 1) you are welcome to go to an ATM after class and return to pay, 2) you can pay $20 next time, or 3) we'll call this your introductory class.
There are so many warm and welcoming yoga schools in Portland that I won't need to revisit this one.

Ages 2-6 years emphasized in this class, but all ages are welcome. Caregivers & kids are taken through a structured class format and playful poses, games and activities to give the entire family a way to interact, be silly, connect and enjoy the community of other parents & bond with your children in a comfortable setting. Poses are practiced both individually and as a family; parents are encouraged to help their kids along but still let them explore their own bodies.
