Celebrate this free summer event. The mission of the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival is to make Shakespeare’s works accessible to a diverse audience through free professional theater and educational programs. From its beginning, the Festival has been committed to providing high quality professional productions to our community. The Festival operates under an agreement with Actors' Equity Association and employs professional actors every summer, under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director, Sidonie Garrett. The Festival also utilizes the finest design and technical talent in the city to create first-rate productions that bring the genius and beauty of Shakespeare to life. Education programs reach thousands of young people and adults year-round through community programs, The Shakespeare Studio, touring performances, and the Festival’s signature program, Camp Shakespeare.
