Overview
Last updated Dec-19-11
Since the 1920s, each house in this quaint southeast neighborhood has been decorating for Christmas. Mostly Tudors, the houses are adorned with not only beautiful sparkling lights, but also nativity scenes, rotating Christmas trees and stunningly life-like replicas of Santa and Frosty.
Be forewarned: this is a very popular Portland tradition and the crowds can get quite thick. It is wise to park several blocks away and walk, rather than drive through the area. Better yet, take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage. More info about the carriages is avaiable at Cowboy Carriage.

We attended the lights at Peacock Lane several years ago, and than again this year. They are not that great of display, VERY crowded and parking is impossible. There are SO many more updated neighborhood light displays that out due this one. I didn't see any new lights from several years ago and this year, and to be honest there are not many lights on most of the houses. No more than the average person, and not worth the work they take to get there. If you go, go for the history and tradition and not the display.
