The Nimbus Fish Hatchery is a place for family and fun. Located on the banks of the American River, Nimbus Hatchery raises 4 million chinook salmon and 430,000 steelhead trout every year. Explore the Visitor Center, watch fish climb the fish ladder (November through March), enjoy the Super Salmon play structure, stroll the River Discovery Trail, and feed young fish in the raceway pools--still just a nickel per handful of fish food! Naturalists on site to answer your questions; tours available for schools and other organizations (call 916-358-2884).
