Overview
Last updated Feb-8-11
Camp Fire's School Based Program is framed by our decades-long expertise in service learning, mentoring, educational enrichment, and life-skills & leadership training. Camp Fire’s SBP is built on this research-based strategy of early intervention and is specifically designed to extend and complement the school day. Our district collaborators recognize Camp Fire’s program as an ideal partner to keep kids safe after school, engaged in fun, meaningful activities, and provide the additional support needed to help close the achievement gap.
At the heart of the program is 45 minutes of daily homework assistance and academic support by highly qualified staff. Camp Fire’s daily dose of homework help is a key support system for students who need additional assistance, including English Language Learners, students with unstable home lives, or those that are simply struggling in school. Camp Fire’s low 11:1 staff-to-student ratio ensures all students receive sufficient individualized attention. Following daily academic support, students benefit from research-based leadership and service learning, creative arts, active recreation, and family engagement activities.
