The Sternwheeler Rose was built in Bandon Oregon in 1987. At 80' long and 98 gross
tons, it is a replica of an 1870's paddlewheel boat. This type of boat was used to transport passengers, lumber and a variety of cargoes during the 1800's. Today this type of boat is
primarily used for recreational activities that may include private parties and fine dining.

The 'Rose's hull is made of welded steel and is flat on the bottom which significantly
decreases the motion of the vessel in rough water. The paddlewheel is the sole means
of propulsion and is run by a Cummins 855, 350hp. in-line six, turbo diesel engine. Fore
