Lan Su Chinese Garden is one of Portland's greatest treasures. Built by Chinese artisans, it's the most authentic Chinese garden outside of China. Much more than just a beautiful garden, Lan Su is a creative wonder -- a powerfully inspiring experience based on a 2,000-year-old Chinese tradition that melds art, architecture, design and nature in perfect harmony. Once inside the garden's walls, you'll feel as if you've traveled through time to another era in a faraway world.
Lan Su is a window into Chinese culture, history and way of thinking. Visitors of all ages can explore the garden, its history and meanings through a wide variety of kid-friendly activities, including: children’s discovery guides, coloring activities, story times with Chinese folktales, bookmark stamping and more.
Ever changing, Lan Su always has something new to offer - by the minute, by the hour, and with the seasons. Enter the wonderland.

We went last weekend to the bats, bugs, frogs and fish kids event. It was awesome, and very cool to learn about the Chinese culture. I think my kids have a whole new level of respect for all of these animals, not so quick to get rid of them and go on the hunt for them anymore.

I noticed today that Kidzlist is giving away family passes for the garden. If you have never been before this is an awesome little treasure to take your kids. One might think this is for the older crowd, however it is for all ages. We try and go to the garden about once a season, as it does change and their events do as well. My kids have really learned a lot about Chinese culture and especially symbolism of different objects that we don't know about in the western world.

It might surprise you that this is a great place to take children. The garden is just like Mulan's. There are so many nook and crannies to explore and it changes with the seasons.
